Available exclusively online and in-store through Iris & Wool and George the Farmer, this limited-edition piece symbolises the shared commitment to supporting local communities and promoting Australian merino wool.

The idea for this collaboration arose during a chance encounter at the South Australian Agrifutures Rural Women's Award announcement last year between Simone Kain, founder of George the Farmer and a recipient of the National Agrifutures Rural Women's Runner-up Award in 2017, and Emily Riggs, founder of Iris & Wool and a South Australian state finalist in the Agrifutures Rural Women's Awards in 2023. Their meeting at the awards celebration sparked a conversation about their shared passion for agriculture, marketing, and collaboration, ultimately culminating in the creation of this unique children's knit.

At George the Farmer, our vision is a world where all kids connect to the earth, food and farm. We educate children through various mediums such as picture storybooks, a paddock to plate television series on ABC iView and Youtube, music, and nationally touring performances, has also successfully educated over 140,000 children nationally through freely available curriculum-aligned educator resources.

Simone Kain commented, "This collaboration is a true celebration. I love Emily's work and together we're educating and inspiring children about the wonders of agriculture and the beauty of Australian merino wool through fashion."

Iris & Wool, launched in 2019, has swiftly established itself as a prominent advocate for Australian merino wool. Emily Riggs, whose family runs 15,000 head of merino sheep in Burra, draws inspiration from her deep connection to the land and her commitment to sustainability. The label, now in its eighth season and recently stocked in David Jones, champions the renewable and biodegradable qualities of merino wool, reflecting Emily's dedication to promoting environmentally conscious fashion.

"As a mother of two young children, I've always admired the educational mission of the George the Farmer brand. Collaborating with Simone on this project has been incredibly rewarding. Together, we're not only creating beautiful fashion but also inspiring children to learn about agriculture and appreciate the beauty of Australian merino wool."

Crafted from premium Woolmark-certified Australian merino wool, our children's knit embodies the spirit and look of George the Farmer while symbolising the shared commitment to supporting local communities and promoting Australian merino wool.
